What is the benefit of listing on Swapagift.com?

Swapagift.com specializes in gift cards, and provides the user the most efficient way to obtain the gift cards they REALLY want - a swap transaction. Users can swap cards directly 1 for 1, or can offer a swap of several cards for a single card. Think that the deal can’t be done with a gift card alone? How does Swapagift.com protect me if I am buying, selling or swapping a gift card?
Answer:
We guarantee all transactions up to $100.00 per our Customer Protection Policy. Transactions must be settled through PayPal and you must provide the last 4 digits of your gift card number including the pin number and you must have proof of mailing via a tracking number or signature. Swap transactions are not handled through PayPal but still require the last 4 digits of your gift card number including the pin number and proof of mailing via a tracking number or signature. Failure to produce the necessary documentation invalidates your coverage.

What do I do if the transaction did not complete successfully?
Answer:
Contact Swapagift.com as soon as the problem arises. We will attempt to resolve the situation since most problems may be a misunderstanding that can be resolved immediately. If the problem remains unresolved you must report the problem to PayPal since we are in excess of PayPal protection. We will pay the excess of any amount not covered by PayPal or your credit card company up to $100.00. Only one transaction per 6 months will be covered. We reserve the right to limit or restrict users who have excessive claim activity.

I am new to Swapagift.com, how does this work?
Answer:
You can sell your gift card, swap your gift card, mail your gift card to Swapagift.com for cash, exchange your gift card for a Visa gift card or pay a bill with your gift card. If you want to sell or swap your gift card, you must register on the site then list your card. It is $1.99 to list a gift card and the card listing will stay active for 150 days or until it sells or swaps. You will be notified via your e-mail if anyone is interested in buying or swapping your gift card. If you want to mail your gift card in for cash, please click on the Get Cash link on the home page for a list of our Preferred Merchants and redemption rates. To exchange your gift card for a Visa card, just click on Exchange Your Gift Card on the home page. To pay a bill, just click on the Pay a Bill with your Gift Card link.

My gift card is not on the Preferred Merchants list, will you accept it?
Answer:
If you do not see your merchant listed, please e-mail customerservice@swapagift.com. We may purchase your gift card.

I am mailing my gift card to Swapagift.com, do I need to send this with tracking?
Answer:
Yes, if you are mailing your gift card to Swapagift.com, we recommend that you mail your gift card First Class Insured or with tracking. Please write down your gift card number before you mail the gift card. We are not responsible for cards lost in the mailing process.

Once I mail my gift card, how long will it take to get my check?
Answer:
All gift cards that arrive at Swapagift.com are verified the same day. A check is issued the very next day and gets mailed to you. You will receive your check in about 3 to 4 days.

I have a merchandise credit and it is on the Preferred Merchants list, can I mail it to Swapagift.com for cash?
Answer:
Yes, as long as it is in the form of a gift card, has no pending expiration date and is at least $25.00 you can mail it to Swapagift.com. We recommend mailing your gift cards First Class Insured or with tracking. We are not responsible for gift cards lost in the mail.


Listing a gift card

How long does it take for newly listed items to be available in the search function?
Answer:
As soon as you list your gift card on Swapagift, the card becomes available for purchase and/or swapping.

What fees does Swapagift.com charge?
Answer:
Unlike other sites that charge you a percentage of the final selling price, Swapagift.com charges a flat fee of $1.99 - regardless of the gift card value. Whether it’s a $25 gift card or a $500 gift card, the Swapagift.com price never changes. It’s always just $1.99.

How do I edit my gift card listings?
Answer:
As a registered user, you have the ability to edit your gift card listing at any time. You can change the price of the card, the balance, and even the cards for which you would swap. Simply click on My Account then click on My Cards. Choose the card you want to change and click the EDIT button.

How long will my listing stay on Swapagift?
Answer:
Your listing is active for 90 days. If you have not sold it or swapped at the end of 90 days, you are given the opportunity to re-list for an additional 60 days at no additional charge.

What is a reasonable price to ask for my gift card?
Answer:
Most buyers coming to the site are looking to get the most value for their dollar. If you have a card that was received as a gift, and therefore cost you nothing to obtain, you might want to consider discounting it so that it is attractively priced.

Is my transaction secure?
Answer:
You can be assured that your privacy and security are a top priority at Swapagift. We use a secure socket layer (SSL) for all transactions.

What about my privacy?
Answer:
Our privacy policy is clearly posted at the bottom of every page. Again, be assured that your privacy is a top priority, and your name, demographics, and contact information will never be sold to ANY other party. Ever!

How do I verify the remaining balance on the gift card I want to list?
Answer:
Most every merchant has a contact phone number on the back of the card. Simply call the number (usually toll-free), provide the card number, and you will be given the remaining balance. In addition to the customer service number, most of the major retailers and merchants provide balance verification on their web sites.

What measures are taken to prevent fraudulent activity?
Answer:
We register all users, whether listing or buying, in order to provide a forthright and open exchange environment. Listing users have secured their gift card listings by paying an insertion fee that is applied to their credit card. We recommend that listers make sure that payment or swapped cards are verified before sending out the listed card.

Who should I contact if I am having difficulty completing my transaction?

Why is my gift card listed as OTHER?
Answer:
When you list a gift card and enter the merchant name manually, the merchant name is set to OTHER until we can verify it. Once verified and assigned to a category, your gift card will be updated accordingly.

Is there a transaction fee charged to both the buyer and the seller?
Answer:
There is a $1.99 charge to list a gift card. There is no fee charged to the buyer. There is no fee charged to the buyer.

I have a merchandise credit, can I list it on the site?
Answer:
Yes, as long as it is in the form of a gift card and it is transferable you can list it on the site. If the card says "Merchandise Credit" make a note in the comments section of your card listing.

I have an electronic gift card, can I sell it on your site?
Answer:
We do not support the buying or selling of electronic gift cards. Users who sell, buy or swap electronic gift certificates will not be eligible for customer protection at this time.


Selling a gift card

I sold my gift card, now what?
Answer:
Congratulations! If you received an e-mail that someone is interested in purchasing your gift card please be sure to accept the transaction. Once you accept the transaction, an e-mail will be sent to both the buyer and seller. Contact the buyer and let them know what types of payment you will accept. Always confirm payment before mailing your gift card. Once payment is received you can mail your gift card.

Is it safe to provide my gift card number via email?
Answer:
Never send your gift card number to someone who wants to check the balance.

The buyer wants the gift card number today for an on-line purchase, is it ok to send via e-mail?
Answer:
We recommend settling all transactions with a buyer by mailing the physical gift card to the buyer's CONFIRMED ADDRESS and requiring signature. Providing account numbers via email is highly discouraged.

The buyer wants the gift card mailed to an address different then the confirmed PayPal address, is it OK to mail the gift card to a different address?
Answer:
We do not support “ship to” addresses. You must mail the gift card to the confirmed PayPal address.

I am mailing my gift card to a buyer, do I need to send this with tracking?
Answer:
Yes, if you are mailing your gift card to a buyer we recommend that you mail your gift card First Class Insured or with tracking. Please write down your gift card number before you mail the gift card. We are not responsible for cards lost in the mailing process.

How long should I wait for a buyer to contact me?
Answer:
When you swap or buy a gift card, Swapagift.com immediately exchanges the buyer/swapper and seller information. We allow five (5) days for the transaction to complete, but request that users contact each other within 1-3 business days in order to complete it on their end. During that time, if either party confirms that the transaction has completed, we will remove the card from our active inventory.

Does the seller pay the shipping cost?
Answer:
The shipping is worked out between the buyer and the seller. We recommend mailing gift cards First Class Insured or with tracking.

Answer:
Congratulations! If you received an e-mail that someone is interested in swapping for your gift card, and you want to swap, please be sure to accept the transaction. Once you accept the transaction, an e-mail will be sent to both the swapper and the swappee. Contact the person interested in your card. Let them know when you will be mailing the gift card, and ask when you can expect their gift card. Write down your gift card number before you mail it and be sure to mail your gift card First Class Insured or with tracking.

The person I am swapping with wants the gift card mailed to an address different then the one they registered with? Is it Ok to mail the gift card to a different address?
Answer:
We do not support “ship to” addresses. You must mail the gift card to the address that the person registered with.

I am not comfortable swapping my gift card. What can I do?
Answer:
You can use the Swapagift.com Broker Service. Swapagift.com becomes the broker in a transaction when either party feels uncomfortable completing a transaction on their own. Both parties will mail the gift cards to Swapagift.com. Swapagift.com will wait for both cards to arrive, verify the balance and mail the gift card to the appropriate party. The broker fees must be paid via PayPal and the fees are paid by both parties.

Someone e-mailed me about swapping gift cards. They do not have their gift card listed on the site, is it OK to swap gift cards?
Answer:
No, we do not recommend swapping gift cards with unknown users who are not registered on the site. In addition, you will not be covered under the Customer Protection Policy if you make a swap with someone who does not have their gift card listed on the site and is not a registered user.


Buying a gift card

I found a gift card that I want to buy, what do I do now?
Answer:
If you found a gift card that you want to purchase, just click on the BUY button next to the gift card. The seller has 5 days to accept or decline the transaction. If the sellers accepts, you will receive an e-mail with their contact information and payment options. Contact the seller to confirm the payment types and pay the seller for the gift card.

Is there a transaction fee charged to buy a gift card?
Answer:
There is no transaction fee charged to the buyer.

Does the buyer pay the shipping cost?
Answer:
The shipping is worked out between the buyer and the seller. We recommend mailing gift cards First Class Insured. If the card is purchased directly from the Swapagift.com inventory then the shipping is on us! We mail all of our gift cards First Class Insured.

I wish to purchase a gift card from the Swapagift.com inventory, what forms of payment do you accept?
Answer:
We prefer that payment be made via PayPal.

Why do I need to register if I’m just buying a card?
Answer:
Swapagift.com wants the user experience to be open, honest, and efficient. In order to provide users who are listing cards the most confidence, we ask that our buyers register as well. Besides, registration at Swapagift.com is quick and non-intrusive!


Exchange your gift card for a Visa ICE gift card

How does the Visa ICE card work?
Answer:
Your Visa ICE card works like a Visa card. When the card balance reaches zero or the card expires the card may no longer be used.

Can I exchange more than 1 gift card?
Answer:
Yes, you can exchange more than 1 gift card. The total limit is $500. That means you can send (5) $100 gift cards, or (2) $250 gift cards, etc.

What is the minimum and maximum amount that I can mail in?
Answer:
The minimum amount is $50.00. The maximum amount is $500.

Do I need to activate my Visa ICE gift card when I receive it?
Answer:
No, your gift card will be active when you receive it.

How does the Visa ICE card work?
Answer:
Your Visa ICE card works like a Visa card. When the card balance reaches zero or the card expires the card may no longer be used.


Pay a bill with your gift card

So I can pay a bill with my gift card, how does it work?
Answer:
Yes, you can pay a bill with your gift card. Just click on the Pay a Bill with Your Gift Card link on the home page. Start with Step 1 and enter in your merchant gift card and the card balance. The redemption rate will automatically populate for you. Redemption rates vary per merchant. Complete Step 2 by entering your contact information. Print the form, then simply mail the form, a copy of your bill and your gift card to Swapagift.com. We recommend mailing your gift card First Class Insured or with tracking. We are not responsible for gift cards lost in the mail. When we receive your gift card we will verify the balance then pay the bill!

How long does it take to get the bill paid?
Answer:
Once your gift card arrives at Swapagift.com we will verify the balance and pay the bill within 24 hours. If the bill can be electronically paid it will take approximately 3 days. If the biller does not accept electronic payment, a check will be sent.

What bills can I pay with my gift cards?
Answer:
Any bill! Yes, we mean any bill! You can pay your Macy’s charge card bill with a gift card from Best Buy. You can pay your local electric bill, your heating bill, your cable bill. ANY BILL!


Fundraising with Cards that Care

How does the Cards That Care™ program work?
Answer:
People donate and send their unwanted (unused) gift cards to the fundraising organization. The cards are then forwarded to Swapagift.com, and the fundraising organization receives 60% of each card’s balance. It’s really that simple.

How will our organization inform supporters that they can donate their unused gift cards?
Answer:
This can be done through any means you feel is most effective for your fundraiser. Some organizations choose e-mail and direct mail campaigns, while others set-up collection centers or go “door-to-door”. Swapagift.com provides you with the donation forms so you can collect and track the cards you have collected.

What do we do with the gift cards once we receive them?
Answer:
When the gift cards arrive at your organization, you will need to verify the balance on each one. You will do this by calling the toll-free number on the back of the gift card. Once verified, attach the donation form to the corresponding cards. The fundraising leader will sign each donation form indicating that the cards have been verified, and will keep a copy for their records. Then, simply ship the gift cards using the FedEx supplies we provided.

How do we ship the gift cards to Swapagift.com?
Answer:
Swapagift.com provides the fundraiser with FedEx shipping supplies. The shipping is already paid for by Swapagift.com, and the insurance is pre-paid by Swapagift.com.

How often do we ship gift cards to Swapagift.com?
Answer:
We use a third-party insurance provider to insure all gift cards shipped to Swapagift.com. The maximum amount you can put in the FedEx envelope at one time is $2,400. The minimum amount is $500. When your total card balances are in this range, you can

When does the organization receive the proceeds check from Swapagift.com?
Answer:
Proceeds are issued every Friday for cards that were received during the week.

Are the gift card donations tax-deductible?
Answer:
Yes, donated gift cards are subject to the same rules and guidelines as other donations.

Will every gift card be accepted as a donation?
Answer:
Gift card donations must appear on the preferred retailers list that is on the donation form.

Can donors send in more than one gift card?
Answer:
Yes, donors can send as many gift cards as they would like.

How should donors send the donated gift cards to our organization?
Answer:
If the cards are being mailed to you, we recommend mailing gift cards 1st Class insured, with tracking.
